A lifeboat has been on-station at Fleetwood since 1859. Initially a rowing lifeboat, then pulling and sailing lifeboats; to be replaced by motor-lifeboats from 1933 onwards.

Later lifeboats were pulling sailing types, such as the ‘Maude Pickup’.
